Publication Ethics

 

Negotium Law Journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics in order to ensure academic integrity, scholarly quality, and public trust in legal research. This ethical statement is guided by the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and relevant academic regulations.

1. Duties of Editors

Editors are responsible for:

  • Ensuring a fair, objective, and transparent editorial process without discrimination;
  • Evaluating manuscripts solely on the basis of academic merit, originality, relevance to the journal’s focus and scope, and contribution to legal scholarship;
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and safeguarding all information obtained during the editorial process;
  • Making publication decisions based on the results of the peer review process and established editorial policies;
  • Avoiding conflicts of interest and managing any potential conflicts in a transparent and ethical manner.

2. Duties of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Conduct peer reviews objectively, professionally, and in a timely manner;
  • Provide constructive, evidence-based, and scholarly feedback to authors;
  • Treat manuscripts as confidential documents and refrain from using unpublished materials for personal advantage;
  • Notify the editor of any suspected ethical misconduct, including plagiarism or duplicate publication;
  • Decline the review if any conflict of interest could compromise the impartiality of the evaluation.

3. Duties of Authors

Authors are required to:

  • Submit original work that is accurate, honest, and free from plagiarism, fabrication, or falsification;
  • Ensure that the manuscript has not been previously published and is not under consideration by another journal;
  • Properly acknowledge all sources and comply with accepted citation standards;
  • List only those individuals who have made a significant scholarly contribution as authors and avoid guest, gift, or ghost authorship;
  • Disclose any potential conflicts of interest related to the research or publication;
  • Cooperate with the editorial process and revise the manuscript in accordance with reviewers’ and editors’ recommendations.

4. Plagiarism and Redundant Publication

All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection tools.
Negotium Law Journal does not tolerate:

  • Plagiarism in any form;
  • Duplicate or redundant publication;
  • Self-plagiarism without proper disclosure;
  • Salami publication practices.

Manuscripts found to violate these standards will be rejected or retracted, depending on the severity of the violation.

5. Handling of Ethical Misconduct

In cases of suspected ethical misconduct, the editor will:

  • Conduct an initial investigation and seek clarification from the relevant parties;
  • Follow COPE guidelines in handling the case;
  • Take appropriate actions, including manuscript rejection, retraction of published articles, or notification to the authors’ affiliated institutions when necessary.

6. Open Access and Copyright

Negotium Law Journal applies an open access policy to promote the wide dissemination of legal knowledge. Authors retain copyright of their work and grant the journal the right to publish and distribute the article in accordance with the journal’s licensing policy.
